Dear Members and Colleagues, Greetings from the Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA). It is my great honor to serve as President of the Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA). As I take on this role I am most thankful to the leadership and mentoring from Past-Presidents as well as strong support and advice from the Board of Governors and Executive Committee, without which my role would be impossible. Together with the newly elected Executive Committee, Abdullah Al-Dohayan as Vice-President, Kevin Yau as General Secretary, and William Chen as Treasurer we will do our best to continue to promote the leading role of ELSA and to fulfill your expectations. The vision of our society is to lead endolaparoscopic surgery in ASIA and it is our mission to promote clinical excellence in Endosurgery for all surgeons and patients through education, research, collaboration and advocacy. In the past years, ELSA established his leadership in education and training, clinical application of new MIS techniques, forum for interdisciplinary discussion and as platform for exchange knowledge in our vast continent. Continuing with this legacy, I lined up some of the most important initiative that will help to strengthen our community and progress the development of our Society like: membership recruitment, educational activities and dedicated training programme for developing countries, website and webportals community, corporate partnership and research and education grant. Endolaparoscopic surgery procedures have been successfully adopted all around Asian and ELSA will continue to support innovation and development by continuous sharing knowledge in our Asian community. Dear Members of ELSA, It gives me great honour to serve you as the Secretary General for ELSA. ELSA has now grown to represent the interests of Asian endoscopic surgeons in more than 27 countries, from Turkey in the West to Korea in the East. The prime objective for the secretariat would be to keep the membership up to date and to all ELSA's members by efficient communication either through contacts email addresses or through the local society as represented by members board of governors. In this age of internet, the ELSA web site will serve as a source for members to access the information. We have updated all the governors’ information and their respective countries membership status. Our members are highly recommended to actively access to and update their email addresses in the “membership corner”, so as to keep all the members informed of the upcoming ELSA meetings and to encourage members’ participation in the world congresses. We also hope to have interchange of endoscopic and laparoscopic skills through further development of the website into an active arena where members can participate in discussion or exchange of ideas through the members chat corners. I would welcome members input for any further development of the website for the benefit of the membership. I look forward to the active participation of all members in this society and bringing forth our society to a new height in the international scene of Endo-laparoscopic surgery.
